MORE INFOWonderful hotel - stayed there recently with a group of Swimmers and we had a fantastic time. Lea in Group bookings was so helpful and couldn't do enough to make sure we had a great stay. The rooms are beautiful and both breakfast and dinner in the hotel was lovely. Staff went out of their way to help us at all times. Will rebook for next year !
As the designer of this hotel, originally an IHG Crowne Plaza and Staybridge Suites hotel, the second IHG hotel in Manchester (the first in Shudehill that I also designed) and after the COVID-19 pandemic was sold to Hyatt as bookings after COVID were down worldwide to become more efficient for bookings. The interiors I also took part in designing so I am well aware of the design competency. The use of colour inside & out was paramount as most architects shy away from colour as difficult to be successful but I have always used colour to create imaginative hotel venues wherever I design them in UK or worldwide. This venue was where I attended the TEDx speakers dinner with a good friend taking one of the talks the following day. The only problem was that there are two sets of public/guest lifts to serve the two hotel users and these were not managed perfectly and no control for the lift entrances was apparent. I and my guests were locked out of the entrance and reverted to knocking on the topfloor, looking both stupid and unaware of the hotel entrances, something I had never done since I designed the hotel five years previous! 🤭. Undaunted by this issue we had a great time and was introduced as the hotel architect and duly showed guests around the venue happily and with good fun in mind. All the food was immaculate a d all the areas we used perfectly balanced/designed, even though the hotel is now a Hyatt brand. The bedrooms although I did not use I am very aware of their design intent are/were immaculate, as expected. I would recommend this hotel to anyone wanting a well designed venue with perfect use for any event, conference or family evening out. The location isn't perfect as was designed for the adjacent university appeal. But nonetheless it is a wonderful location.
We stayed here for just one night before heading to the airport however we could have happily stayed longer! The room was huge, clean and comfortable. The breakfast buffet was perfect before our flight and the staff made it so easy and efficient for us. As it is just a 20 minute drive to the airport, I would recommend staying here rather than the most expensive, lower quality airport hotels.
